1935 ASTON MARTIN 1½-LITRE MARK II SHORT-CHASSIS OPEN TWO SEATER REGISTRATION NO. EX-UK REGISTRATION: CHG 510 CHASSIS NO. B5/550/S, ENGINE NO. B5/550/S, Desirable short-chassis model, Matching Number? Registered in the Netherlands, 1.495 cc, 4-cylinder engine, 100 hp, 4-speed manual Introduced in the year 1934 and built until 1935, the replacement Aston Martin Mark II model came on the market with a more sportive and stronger chassis and a revised engine with counter-balanced crankshaft. Short and long wheelbase versions were built. According to former records this example here was first delivered to the UK when being exported in the year 1958 to New Zealand where this beautiful car stayed almost all her life when being back imported to the UK in 2011. The car has been a participant in numerous rallies and classic car events in New Zealand. Former records and publications of those events are present. This lovely RHD example here is a highly desirable short chassis version MK II from 1935 with original UK registration number CHG 510. A well-known car in the Aston Martin Car Club! This car presents itself technical in very good state and condition and runs smooth, powerful and is wonderful to handle. A real driving pleasure for pre-war lovers and for those who want to become one. This Aston Martin here is definitely not a “shiny concours car” but stands out in her beautiful colour scheme: black exterior combined with green leather interior, black tonneau, black cover and sidewindows. The car is a real beauty and may not hide her age of 87 years… she has a charming patina, certain scratches and slight signs of usage. As the French say the car remains “dans son jus”. In fact, how a real pre-war car of this age has to be! Overhaul and maintenance records show that she has been partly restored over the years by a pre-war specialist in the UK but remains mostly in original state and condition. This example here is very well serviced and maintained throughout. Recent service and check-up has been carried out in the Netherlands. Since 2014 in current ownership and part of a very enthusiastic car family who is now off to look for another passionist who treasures her with same love and passion. The car comes with comprehensive files and history, known ownership, and is published in several books and magazines. Old invoices present, correspondence from previous owners present, old pictures of its history and even comes with the original Aston Marin instruction book Registered in the Netherlands on Dutch number plates. A great car throughout which guaranties much driving pleasure. Ideal for (pre-war) rally and tour or any other classic car event. Further details, pictures and information certainly on request!
